AthFest Educates has opened the grant application window for music and arts youth programs in the community.
The funds are available for teachers and community educators from nonprofits, public schools or government agencies serving ACC youth. Executive Director Jill Helme:“We fund music and arts education efforts for kindergarten through 12th grade youth, so if you call in that framework, we would love to receive an application from you,” according to Helme.
Those funds are making a difference. “For programs that are able to receive funding from AthFest Educates so that they offer these programs outside of the school day, or in the summertime so that young people can participate; it makes it possible for then to do that at a low or no cost opportunity for young people. So, there’s just some many different things that young people are able to participate in because of AthFest Educates grants.”
Helme says AthFest Educates will reach a milestone this year. “This particular upcoming grant period, the one that will be offered during the 2021-22 school year, will put us over the half a million-dollar grant mark. It’s really exciting to know that in that time, a small organization like ours has been able to award over a half a million dollars in our community. For me personally, it’s really rewarding to know that we’ve gotten to this milestone.”
Visit athfesteducates.org for more information. The deadline to apply is 5 pm August 25th. The organization is holding its two fundraising events this year.
The AthFest Music and Arts Festival takes place in September and the AthHalf Half Marathon gets underway in October.
