7th Annual Bark & Wine Fundraiser for MOAS Coming Up

The 7th Annual Bark & Wine is taking place Saturday, August 15th. The Dinner, live and silent auction is the principal fundraiser for the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, or MOAS. The e vent, like countless others, was cancelled in 2020. Sherrie Hines is Board President for the facility.

“It is our largest, signature fundraiser of the year,” according to Hines. “In 2019 we raised around $35,000 so it’s just one of the main ways that we’re able to bring in funds for our shelter for services that we offer throughout the year while also being a great way for us to reach to our community.”

That $35,000 covers about one month of expenses at the shelter. They also raise funds through programs and county support.

“Even though we have these government contracts, we don’t even receive 30 percent of our support, of the total amount it takes to keep our services and our shelter operating. So we rely heavily on donations and on program services like vaccines and the spay and neuter program.”

The event features food, wine and desserts from local establishments.

Live music will be provided and dozens of donated items will be available for auction bids.

MOAS is an open intake shelter, which means they are required to accept all animals.
