Jobless claims rose in Georgia last week following a four-month decline.
The state department of labor processed 13,406 claims, up more than 14 hundred from the previous week. This comes after federal unemployment benefits ended for most Georgians on June 27. Officials say, however, that long term trends continue downward.
In Georgia, more than 5 million claims have been processed since the pandemic began — more than the previous 10 years combined. The Georgia Department of Labor has paid almost $23 billion in state and federal benefits since the beginning of the pandemic.
