Kirby Smart Family Foundation Announces $300,000 in Grants for 2021 Giving Day

The Kirby Smart Family Foundation held its annual Giving Day event Wednesday afternoon. Coach Kirby Smart and wife Mary Beth spoke with representatives from this year’s agencies receiving grants and others, Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the rising numbers of COVID cases, organizers held a virtual meeting via Zoom instead of an in-person luncheon as planned. Coach Smart discussed some of the impact the foundation has had.

But this year we’ve given to over 70 organizations over $300,000 just in this year.

“And I’m a big stat guy so I want to brag a little on this organization and how much effort been put into it,” Smart said. “But this year, we couldn’t do this the first year, but this year we’ve given to over 70 organizations over $300,000 just in this year. That makes me so proud."

In addition to the funds, the foundation donated hundreds of meals prepared for the event to local schools and first responders.

More than a dozen UGA football players used their first day off Wednesday to help deliver those meals around Athens.
