Athens-Clarke Police Investigating Series of Weekend Armed Robberies

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in a string of armed robberies over the weekend.

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating six separate incidents that happened Saturday and Sunday, all after midnight. 

In three robberies Saturday, the victims were approached by two armed males demanding money. They stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victims in two of the three incidents. 

The first robbery took place at approximately12:04 on October 16th in the 300 block of Pope Street, involving two victims.

A second armed robbery happened around 12:30 am in the area of Second Street and Dr. MLK Jr. Parkway. Two victims were targeted in that robbery as well.

Nothing was stolen from the two victims in the third incident, which occurred at 12:40 am in the 300 block of Willow Street. 

Sunday, October 17th, three additional armed robbery attempts occurred, but nothing was stolen. In the first, around 12:40 am near Vine Street and Hillside Street, one victim was approached by a man with a gun who demanded money. Nothing was stolen.

At approximately 12:50 am two victims were approached by a lone gunman near Fourth Street and Bonnie Lane. The suspect demanded money, but nothing was stolen from the victims.

The final incident happened around 1 am in the area of Baxter Street and Finley Street. Once again, a gunman approached the victim, demanded money, but left without stealing anything.
