The process of developing Athens-Clarke County's budget for the next fiscal year begins in earnest today, as the Mayor and Commission meet with heads of independent agencies who receive funding from the local government.
Among the agencies making their cases to lawmakers tonight are Project Safe, the ACC Library, and the Classic Center Authority.
The Mayor has until April 30th to submit a recommended budget to the Commission, which they can revise prior to adopting a final budget in June. Athens Clarke County’s total budget this year was around 274 million dollars.
