ACCPD Arrests Known Gang Members


The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has arrested three known gang members, according to a release from the department.

21-year-old Damari Jones, 33-year-old Javaris Barnes and 20-year-old Jakiyah Brown were arrested on charges ranging from Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana to Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.

Police also seized seven firearms (two rifles and five handguns), over nine pounds of marijuana and $52,000.

Over the past two months, ACCPD has made 28 arrests of known gang members or associates. In addition to the arrests, ACCPD has seized 23 firearms, as well as drugs and stolen property. ACCPD is committed to protecting the community and will continue to focus our efforts on violent criminal street gangs.
