Chess and Community Expanding, Celebrating 10 Years

An Athens nonprofit aimed at improving the lives of young people is observing a milestone.

Chess and Community is celebrating its 10th anniversary and holding its 9th Annual Chess and Community Conference Saturday, March 12th. This year’s theme is “The Power of Family.”

Executive Director Lemuel “Life” LaRoche says they are hosting a week full of free activities for the community.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
