Arrest Made in 2021 RaceTrac Clerk Murder

Oconee County authorities have made an arrest in the murder of a RaceTrac clerk last year. According to Oconee County Sheriff James Hale, Ahkil Crumpton of Philadelphia, is accused of killing Elijah James Wood on March 19, 2021.

Crumpton, who played football at the University of Georgia in 2017 and 2018, and was a student through 2021, is also a suspect in a shooter in Philadelphia. An investigation showed shell casings in both shootings matched. The investigation remains open and anyone with information is asked to contact the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at 706-769-3945.

Hale said his office was assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Philadelphia Police Department, and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Middle District of Georgia and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

A search of the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) database provided the match to the shell casings.
