Seventy percent of American homes have pets, but nearly 50 million pets don’t have access to basic veterinary care.
Some Athens-Clarke County pet owners needing assistance will be getting some support in taking care of their pets. UGA Law School is using a $200,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help meet the need. Funds will benefit the Community Interventions for Sustainable Access to Care program.
Professor Lisa Milot is director of the law school’s Practicum in Animal Welfare Skills.
