Free legal clinic event brings consultations to East Side Goodwill

Through a partnership between the Western Judicial Circuit and Georgia Legal Services, the Athens Access to Justice Initiative makes free legal help accessible. And legal help can be expensive.

The Athens Access to Justice pop-up clinic series connects residents with local attorneys specializing in family law, personal injury, landlord/tenant law, and other legal areas. This series will continue Saturday with a pop-up clinic at the East Side Goodwill at 4070 Lexington Road.

From 9-11 a.m., attorneys will give consultations on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those who need help should bring important documents, including ID, legal motions and any letters related to an ongoing case. A list of legal resources and referrals will be available as well.

This is the second pop-up clinic in person since the pandemic started. For more information on affordable legal services, call Georgia Legal Services at 1-800-745-5717 or visit glsp.org.

A similar event on Saturday hosted by the Athens-Clarke County government will help people seeking criminal record restriction. Also at the East Side Goodwill, that event is RSVP only though more information can be found on the accgov “activities” page.
