Athens-Clarke County Police arrested a 31 year old Athens man who is accused of operating a major identity fraud scam active in more than two dozen states.

Corderius Peak was taken into custody after an investigation that started in February. Peak's bond was initially set at $672,000. A search of Peak’s home at a mobile home park off Winterville Road located ID’s and documents with Social Security numbers, altered and stolen checks, mail for other people, credit cards, loan applications, and evidence he was producing fake social security cards and drivers licenses.

Detective Nathan Franco says evidence will also show that the suspect obtained victim information off the dark web. He says five other people were also arrested as a result of the investigation.
