Local Therapists Address Unique Mental Health Care Challenges Facing Black Americans

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Black Americans often face unique obstacles in accessing mental health care. Athens is no different than the rest of the nation in that area, but some local mental health care providers are working to improve the situation. Dr. LaKeisha Gantt and Dr. Zoe Johnson are local mental health providers and part of the Athens Black Therapists Collective.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
