Athens-Oconee CASA to Hold Annual Candlelight Vigil

Children First and Athens-Oconee CASA are inviting members of the Athens and surrounding communities to attend the organization’s Annual Candlelight Vigil. It's the first in-person gathering since the pandemic began. Susie Weller is Executive Director of Children First. She says the event is aimed at bringing awareness to the plight of foster children in the area.

Weller says CASAs, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, volunteer to focus on a single child or sibling group. They receive training though CASA.

The Candlelight Vigil is Tuesday, May 31 at 5:30, on the steps of the UGA Arch. It is a family-friendly event.
