"Crossover voting" could have made the difference for Raffensperger in GOP primary

Analysis by the Associated Press found more than 37,000 people who voted in the state’s Democratic primary in 2020 voted in last month’s Republican primary that saw the defeat of several candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who faced a primary challenge from Trump backed challenger Jody Hice, avoided a runoff by about 27 thousand votes.

Raffensperger beat Hice 52 to 34 percent with other GOP candidates taking the rest. The number of crossover votes was unusually high, though not enough to have affected Gov. Brian Kemp's blowout victory over former Sen. David Perdue.
