Athenians and members of area communities are invited to attend public screenings of the prime-time January 6th Congressional hearings.
The hearings are scheduled for Thursday June 9th and Thursday, June 23rd from 8 pm until 11 pm. The free public screenings are taking place at the VFW at 835 Sunset Drive in Athens and doors open at 7:15. Food vendors will be on site. The hearings are nonpartisan, and residents of all political persuasions are encouraged to attend.
Local writer Pat Priest is one of the event organizers. She says such gatherings harken back to past occasions when citizens focused on gripping political events that rocked the nation.
