Early Voting in Athens is Off to a Slow Start

WSLM Radio

Early voting for the General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election started slowly on Saturday with just 103 voters turning out on the first day of early voting, according to Clarke County elections officials. Several elections remain undecided, pending the results of the runoff. Locally, Athens-Clarke County voters in District 5 will vote in the runoff for ACC Commission in that district. Statewide, Democratic voters will be voting on races for Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Insurance Commissioner, Labor Commissioner, and US Congress in the Athens-centered 10th District. Republican voters in the area have only one race to decide, also for the 10th congressional district.

Voters can vote early at two locations: the ACC Elections Office from the 11th-17th and the Athens Regional Library from the 13th-15th. Both locations will be open from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. each day, and from 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on June 15.
