finance-monthly.com

Of the 16 cities chosen to host games 11 will be in the US, 3 will be in Mexico, and 2 will be in Canada. Included in the list of American cities is Atlanta, Georgia’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The 2026 World Cup will also feature an expanded 48 team bracket. That means 60 total games will be played on American soil including the quarterfinal, semifinal, and tournament final games.

The North American based tournament is still 4 years away with the 2022 World Cup scheduled to take place this November in Qatar.

2026 will be the first time that Atlanta hosts World Cup games. It was not selected as a host city for the 1994 World Cup, the first to be played in the US.
