The University of Georgia launched a new phone application to promote safety and prompt emergency-response within the campus community.
The UGA Safe app offers features such as Mobile Bluelight, which immediately calls and shares your real-time location with UGA Police, as well as Chat with UGA Police, which allows users to report concerns to police by text. The Friend Walk feature sends your location to a friend so they can monitor you until you reach your destination. There is also a portal to report tips to police, emergency notification services, and resources to help guide users in responding to urgent situations.
The application will replace the existing LiveSafe app, which will be discontinued September 1. The UGA Safe app is now available from Google Play and the Apple App Store. Users can register using their UGA MyId login credentials or as a guest.
