Athens parents asked Dr. Robbie Hooker, Clarke County’s Superintendent finalist, how he plans to improve the district at Sunday’s meet-and-greet.

Superintendent finalist Dr. Robbie Hooker outlined his goals for CCSD schools in a speech to parents, highlighting how he hopes to support students experiencing food and housing insecurity. Parents had the opportunity to afterwards follow up with Hooker and ask him questions about how he planned to serve their children as superintendent.

Lolita Bryant Moye said that she hopes that Hooker will get involved with the community by asking families what resources their children need to succeed in school.

Other parents remembered Hooker from his tenure as a Clarke Central High School Principal and were optimistic about his imminent appointment as the CCSD superintendent.

Mary Dunn Sr., a parent of former Clarke Central students, said she feels that Hooker made a lasting impact on her childrens’ lives.

The Board of Education plans to announce their vote on Hooker's appointment on September 1.
