The University of Georgia has been recognized for its diversity and inclusion practices for the ninth straight year.

The university earned the INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Higher Education Excellence In Diversity Award for its programs under its five-year Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Plan.

President Jere Morehead expressed his appreciation for the honor and stated, “While there is more work ahead, it is exciting to see the gains we are making, and I look forward to the additional progress that will be made in this critical area in the coming year.”

Since the Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Plan’s implementation in 2021, the university says it has worked to improve student success and serve local communities. University programs worked to increase the number of need-based student scholarships, recruit more students from rural and racially diverse schools and foster inclusivity in the STEM disciplines.
