Morning headlines: Elections officials to decide next week on District 2 election

The Clarke County Board of Elections is set to decide next week on when to hold a special election to fill the vacant District 2 seat on the ACC Commission. That vacancy occurred when District 2 Commissioner Mariah Parker resigned recently. The board will make a final decision on Wednesday, September 21.

While it is possible for the special election to be held along with the scheduled general election on November 8, elections officials say that doing that could create a logistical nightmare.

ATL United wins, Braves fall to Giants, UGA Volleyball faces Wolfpack

In sports, Atlanta United beat Orlando City 1-0 last night. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves came up short against the San Francisco Giants, 4–1. The Braves return home for a trio of games against the Philadelphia Phillies starting Friday.

UGA volleyball is in Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the NC State Wolfpack; they’re back at home Saturday night to wrap up their non-conference schedule against in-state rival Georgia Tech.

Jeff is a graduate of the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University (MBA) and holds a BS in Business Administration from Campbell University, both in North Carolina.
