11-Year Old Killed, Woman Injured in Winder Shooting

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Winder that left two people dead and one injured. The shooting stemmed from a domestic disturbance Monday evening that ended in gunfire. An 11-year old girl was killed, as was the shooter, and a woman wounded.

According to a media release from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene at 181 Celestial Run to find 11-year old Angelique Ahearn deceased and 34-year old Rachel Hollifield suffering from gunshot wounds to her hands. She told deputies that 59-year old Leonard Ahearn had shot her and then shot himself. Ahearn later died at the hospital.

The release states Hollifield and Leonard were in an argument when he retrieved a gun and shot her and then himself. A caller told authorities she was on the phone with Hollifield when she heard gunshots and then the line went quiet.

The investigation is continuing.
