Athens-Clarke County Library awarded the Southeastern Library Association’s Outstanding Program Award

waengineering.com

The Athens-Clarke County Library was awarded the Southeastern Library Association’s Outstanding Program Award for its year-long series of community events, “One Book Athens: One Book, Many Stories”. These programs invited the community to engage with different books to recognize and empathize with important issues across Athens.

WUGA was a media sponsor for one of the library’s events, a virtual event with Dr. Ibram X. Keni and Jason Reynolds, authors of “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You”, and Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul, the author of “Stamped: For Kids”.

Dr. Valerie Boyd, a former professor for UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, moderated the panel discussion. Best known for her biography on Zora Neale Hurston, Dr. Boyd passed earlier this year, on February 12, 2022.
