WUGA wins at GABBY Awards

WUGA's journalism was honored Saturday night at the annual Gabby Awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. Feature reporting by Program Director Martin Matheny, News anchor/Athens News Matters host, Alexia Ridley and former producer-reporter Megan Wahn, entitled "Street Harrassment", received the Gabby Award.
Feature reporting by Martin Matheny and Program Director Emeritus Chris Shupe, "Remembering Bloodkin's Daniel Hutchens," received the Merit Award.
WUGA, the NPR affiliate operated by the University of Georgia in cooperation with Georgia Public Broadcasting, is celebrating 35 years of service to Athens and surrounding counties.
