Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Christopher Nunn presented a $8.9M check to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, which serves 14 counties. The funding will finance over half of the Food Bank’s $16.8M expansion project into a 37-acre lot. The additional space will increase the organization’s service capacity by 65% and further the ongoing fight against food insecurity in Northeast Georgia.
The check presentation was part of the DCA’s Community Development Block Grant for Covid Relief (CDBG-CV) which allocates funds related to economic development, infrastructure improvements and other public services across the state.
