The University of Georgia soccer team is moving to the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the first time since 2011.
Georgia scored both goals in the first half, and fended off a strong second half challenge from Samford in a game that marks freshman keeper Jordan Brown's fifth shutout in seven starts. Brown made 6 saves in Friday's game.
UGA Soccer coach Keidane McAlpine called it "a great win" for the program. Georgia advances to face off next week against the winner of Saturday's game between North Carolina and Old Dominion.
