UGA soccer closes a strong season with a loss to North Carolina in the NCAA Championship Second Round

The University of Georgia soccer team closed a notably strong season with a 3-1 loss to North Carolina on Thursday evening in the NCAA Championship Second Round at Dorrance Field.

North Carolina’s second-seeded Tar Heels gained its first goal at the 23rd minute and two more by the 57th. But the Bulldogs intensified their efforts during the second half, making six shots, and in the 77th minute, Georgia’s junior defender Madison Haugen scored an unassisted goal, successfully avoiding a clean sheet. This marks the Bulldog’s first-ever score against the Tar Heels in five meetings.

Although the University of Georgia lost, this season remained one of the strongest in program history.
