Clarke Board of Elections to decide on Saturday voting

The Clarke County Board of Elections meets again today to decide whether to open locations for early voting on Saturday, November 26.

Guidance from the Secretary of State’s office had originally indicated that because Saturday follows a state holiday, early voting could not happen. On Friday, however, a Fulton County judge disagreed, and sided with Democratic US Senator Raphael Warnock’s campaign, the state Democratic Party, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in a lawsuit.

Now, Clarke County elections officials, which have been generally supportive of expanded early voting opportunities, have to scramble to decide whether, when, and where to hold early voting on Saturday.

Today’s Board of Elections meeting is set to begin at 4 pm at 2555 Lexington Road.
