Qualifying for the District 2 Athens-Clarke County Commission seat is underway. Candidates interested in filling the position vacated by former commissioner Mariah Parker have until Wednesday at noon to qualify for the seat. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, March 21st to fill the unexpired four-year term for the District 2 seat, which will end on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. If necessary, a runoff will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023. The fee to qualify is $450.Qualifying takes place in the ACC Board of Elections Office located at 155 East Washington Street.
