Applications Open at Athens Community Career Academy

The Athens Community Career Academy applications are open for the 2023-24 school year. President and CEO Wesley Mellina says the facility offers college courses and prepares high school students for the workforce. He wants to increase awareness about the facility so that more students are able to take advantage of the programs offered.

The career academy partners will several local businesses and provides students with multiple training options for employment after leaving.

It is open to students in 10th through 12th grades. The Academy partners with the Clarke County School District, Athens Tech, and the University of Georgia. Visit the Clarke County School District's website for more information.

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
