Local artists can enter into a contest for a chance to design art installations for the upcoming Classic Center Arena.
Slated to open in Spring 2024, the Classic Center Arena will house three art installations, according to Athens-Clarke County officials. Two of the projects are for immersive landmark-scale artworks outside of the arena. The third artwork is a large mural or mosaic of Georgia’s music history for the arena’s interior entryway. Designers will work with stakeholders and government staff in creating the installations.
Mayor Kelly Girtz says the project is part of the city’s beautification.
