Athens Unemployment is down

Unemployment is down in Athens, according to Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson.

At the end of February, Athens recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent. That number is down one-tenth of a percent over the month. Last year the rate was 3.2 percent.

The Athens labor force has increased by 1,857 when compared to February of 2022. The number of Athens employed residents has also grown by 276 throughout the month and 1,811 since February of last year.

Since January, the city has seen a 200 increase in jobs. Athens ended February with 100,300 jobs, which is 4,000 more jobs when compared to this time last year.
