ACC Commissioners revisit Olympic Drive proposal

Athens-Clarke County commissioners will discuss – but not hold a final vote on – a proposed 254 unit townhouse development on Olympic Drive at their agenda-setting meeting on Tuesday.

If the proposal sounds familiar, that’s because it’s been in front of commissioner before – a similar plan for the site was withdrawn in September before commissioners could vote on it.

Back then, commissioners expressed a number of reservations about the proposal, including whether it was appropriate for a residential development at all.

The plan didn’t pass muster with the county’s Planning Commission this time around, which recommended that commissioners deny the required rezoning.

Commissioners could hold a final vote on the proposal in early May.
