Last day for community input on East Downtown Tax Allocation District

 TAD

The last call for the public to provide their input on improvements to the East Downtown Tax Allocation District, also known as TAD, is Monday, May 22 at an online survey.

Where is the East Downtown TAD?

The area spans an S-shaped 236 acres and consists of 230 parcels. The district stretches from Loop 10 at Nellie B Avenue to First Street, across the North Oconee River on East Broad Street, all the way to the area near the College Avenue and Cleveland Road intersection.

What exactly is a TAD?

TADs are a type of redevelopment tool that utilizes increased property taxes produced by new developments in a certain area to pay for costs related to the development.

Some of these costs include public infrastructure, demolition, utilities, and planning costs.
