Registration opens for Athens teen summer program Grand Slam

Registration is now open for the Leisure Services Department’s Grand Slam summer program for teens. The program is open to Athens-Clarke County middle and high school students aged 11 to 17. Kelly Thomas is Facilities Supervisor at Lay Park Community Center.

Thomas says the Grand Slam began in the 90’s at Bishop Park and ran until 2003, then restarted in 2019 before pausing during the pandemic. Evenings include a variety of activities and learning opportunities.

The program takes place Friday evenings June 2nd through July 21st from 6 to 9 pm.

The events are free, but registration is required. Visit www.accgov.com/grandslam.
