The US House easily passed a bill last night raising the nation’s debt ceiling, but four Georgians were among the 117 lawmakers opposing the bill.

Mike Collins, a Republican who represents Athens announced earlier this week that he would vote against the measure, as did North Georgia’s Andrew Clyde. Also voting against the bill was Republican Rich McCormick, who represents a district north of Atlanta.

Democrat Nikema Williams, who represents much of Atlanta also voted no, saying that the agreement puts her constituents “on the chopping block.”
