Summer Meal Program Underway at CCSD

Clarke County School District

The Clarke County School District’s Summer meal program is getting underway this week.
In addition to students who enrolled in summer school, meals will also be offered for members of the community at six school sites. Children up to age 18 will be able to visit the sites for free meals from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults can also participate at a cost of $4.25 per meal. The sites are Barrow, Gaines, Stroud, and Oglethorpe Elementary schools, Burney-Harris-Lyons and Hilsman Middle Schools.

Additionally, mobile meal sites are available at various summer camps at local partner churches and organizations.
The meals are provided Monday through Thursday until June 29th.

From June 5 through July 14 (Monday-Friday every week), CCSD Nutrition staff will also be preparing meals in school kitchens and delivering them to the sites listed below on the following schedule. Meal service will be available for 20-30 minutes at each site.

Mobile Route 1

11:15 a.m. - Athens YMCA, 915 Hawthorne Ave.

Mobile Route 2

11:30 a.m. - First AME Church Summer Camp, 521 North Hull St., Athens
12:15 p.m. - Lay Park Community Center, 297 Hoyt St., Athens

Mobile Route 3

11:15 a.m. - Camp Timothy at Timothy Baptist Church, 380 Timothy Rd., Athens
Noon - Aaron Heard Park, 400 McKinley Dr., Athens

Mobile Route 4

11:30 a.m. - Rocksprings Park and Community Center, 291 Henderson Ext., Athens
Noon - Sheats Social Services, 300 Henderson Ext., Athens

12:30 p.m. - CCSD District Office Gymnasium, 595 Prince Ave., Athens

Alexia Ridley joined WUGA as Television and Radio News Anchor and Reporter in 2013. When WUGA TV concluded operations, she became the primary Reporter for WUGA Radio. Alexia came to Athens from Macon where she served as the News Director and show host for WGXA TV. She's a career journalist and Savannah native hailing from the University of Michigan. However, Alexia considers herself an honorary UGA DAWG!
