Nicole Jordan

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department will receive over $1.6 million dollars in a wave of statewide community-level public safety grants announced by Governor Brian Kemp. The awarded funds will go towards boosting recruitment incentives for current police department employees and further encourage new applicants.

The department is one of 118 agencies that will receive funding, totaling more than $83.5 million dollars worth of grants across Georgia. The Athens-Clarke County Police and four other departments around the state were awarded the largest amount given to a single department with $1.65 million dollars.
