Georgia saw an all-time high in jobs numbers last month. According to State Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson, the unemployment rate in May was 3.2 percent, up one-tenth of a percent from April. Despite that slight uptick, jobs were up nearly 15,000 over the month and up by 118,000 over the year to more than 4.9 million, an all-time high for Georgia.
Fields that saw most over the month job gains included Health care and Social Assistance, Arts, Entertainment and Recreation, and Retail Trade among others. Additionally, Health Care and Social Assistance, Accommodation and Food Service, and Local Government saw some of the biggest job gains over the year.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 3.7 percent.
