As state election leaders refute critics argument for the need to upgrade the state’s voting equipment before the 2024 presidential elections, a recent study by the personal finance website WalletHub shows Georgia is doing well when it comes to racial equality in civic engagement, which includes voting. Analyst Jill Gonzalez says while gaps remain, they are smaller in Georgia than most other states.
In addition to voter turnout rates, analysts considered the volunteer rate, the share of veterans, and the adult population on parole, one area in which analysts say Georgia could show improvement.
According to the Pew Research Center, Black voters make up about a third of the state’s electorate.
