A federal lawsuit has been filed asking the courts to block a Georgia law set to take effect tomorrow that bans certain gender-related treatments for minors. Senate Bill 140 stops healthcare providers from providing certain hormones or surgical treatment to children to align with their gender identity. Opponents say the law goes against published medical standards of care and will end up hurting transgender children. Supporters say it protects children from taking steps toward gender transition that are permanent.
