A pedestrian was killed in a fatal vehicle crash last Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m., according to an Athens-Clarke County police press release.
The collision happened on Atlanta Highway at Custom Place near Old Monroe Rd.
Initial investigation reports suggest the pedestrian attempted to cross the highway and was struck by a vehicle. The collision did not take place near a designated crosswalk or an intersection.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital. This marks the 10th fatal motor vehicle crash in Athens-Clarke County this year.
