Last night’s storm led to lasting power outages and fallen trees throughout the county.

Jackson Electric Membership Corporation reported a total of 767 outages in Clarke County. Georgia Power reported 166 households still without power as of this morning.

According to the National Weather Service, last night’s wind gusts reached almost 70 mph.

Powerlines and trees obstructed some roadways, such as the Cobb Street and North Billups Street area, which the police department stated will take a while to restore and should be avoided. The department is posting updates on their Twitter account.

Many traffic lights are out. Drivers should treat all flashing red lights as a four-way stop.
