The Clarke County Board of Elections approved changes to several polling and precinct line locations for the March 2024 presidential preference primary in a Tuesday meeting.

Residents’ voting precincts will not change under the new proposal, only the location where people will vote in-person on Election Day. Voters affected by the change will receive a new precinct card at least 90 days before the Presidential Preference Primary on March 12th, 2024.

Redevelopment, space limitations, and parking issues are among the reasons cited for the new polling site location changes. Elections officials say the other changes will make voting locations more centrally located.

Some of the polling site locations that are being changed include the Winterville Train Depot, the Georgia Square Mall, and the Transit Multimodal Transportation Center.

The Board of Elections held two public hearings in June about the changes when the public generally showed support for the proposal.

The changes will not be final until the Board of Elections holds its final vote on the matter on September 12th.
