The Clarke County School District’s Georgia Milestones test scores were released and match trends throughout the state and the country which show students are not making the progress needed to regain academic losses from the COVID-19 pandemic.

CCSD students scored 10 or more points lower than the statewide average on most tests, with a little over 50% of students in grades 3-8 reading at or above grade level.

Progress was seen in high school math results with 32% of high school students scoring “Proficient or Above,” an increase from last year’s 28%. Result increases were also seen in biology and third-grade reading proficiency.

CCSD is working to increase progress in the upcoming school year through training school leaders and district teachers with a newer “science of reading” approach.
