Oconee Street and Foundry Street have reopened in time for the University of Georgia’s fall semester, according to a release from Archnews.
Oconee St. and Foundry St. have been closed since June 2023 due to an emergency drainage improvement project to replace a 130-year-old culvert near the Farmer's Exchange building in downtown Athens.
All lanes are now reopened to traffic, with occasional single-lane closures to come until the project is completed. Archnews asks drivers to continue to be mindful of other travelers and plan accordingly for extended commute times due to increased traffic from students, faculty, staff, and visitors navigating campus and adjusting to the fall semester.
