A new AJC poll finds former President Trump remains the favored candidate for president in 2024 among Republican voters in Georgia. Trump led the GOP field of presidential contenders with 57% in the poll of likely Republican voters, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a distant second at 15%.

Every other contender was mired in single digits, while 14% of the respondents were undecided. Trump held double-digit advantages in every category of voter including age, race, education, and income. The poll was conducted by the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs from August 16th to 23rd following his indictment in Fulton County.
