An Athens resident is among the 61 people recently indicted in Fulton County in connection with mob violence at the controversial proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center site. The indictment names the suspect as Jack Morgan Beamon, 22, who is accused of joining a mob on March 5 when police were assaulted during violence that occurred at the site.

The indictment says the mob overwhelmed the police force and accuses them of arson and domestic terrorism. As of Wednesday’s Beamon had not been booked into a jail on the charges. State Attorney General Chris Carr announced the indictment in which all 61 suspects are charged with violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, better known as RICO.

The indictment accused the suspects of being members of Defend the Atlanta Forest, characterized by the attorney’s general as an anarchist and extremist organization.
