Clarke County Sheriff’s Office to Host Car Seat Checks on September 21

Clarke County Sheriff's Office

Three out of four child car seats are not properly installed, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health — and the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a free event to help curb this issue.

Free child car seat checks will be available on Sept. 21 from 6-8 p.m. in the parking lot of Cornerstone Church Athens located on Lexington Road.

Certified experts will check seats for proper installation, ensure seats are the right fit for a child’s age and size, and answer car seat safety questions.

Clarke County Sheriff John Q. Williams in collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Department of Public Health and member agencies of Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network said in a press release that “understanding the importance of correctly installed car seats and the lives that can be saved,” are part of their commitment to the safety of the area’s youth.
